FAQ's

What is the difference between an Osteopath and a Chiroprator?

Osteopathy & Chiropractic share many similarities, but also many differences. The main difference from a patient’s experience is that osteopath’s tend to use a wide range of techniques including; deep soft tissue massage, stretching, joint articulation, joint manipulation (high-velocity low-amplitude), exercise prescription, and many more. Although Chiropractors can use these techniques, they tend to mainly focus on using joint manipulation as their primary treatment technique.
For more information check out our blog page, where you can find more information.

What conditions can do the Osteopaths at LinksHP in Cromer treat?

Osteopaths can treat many conditions. Our osteopaths at Links Health & Performance in Cromer focus on treating bio-mechanical conditions as our facilities enable us to take a patient from early treatment all the way to exercise rehabilitation.

Do I need a referral from my GP to see an Osteopath?

No, you don’t require a referral from your GP to visit an osteopath. However, we may wish to communicate with your GP to keep them up-to-date with your treatment progress.

Is Osteopathy covered by private health insurance?

Osteopathy is covered by private health funds in Australia. The rates of coverage do differ between private health companies and individual plans, so please check for your specific coverage for the most accurate information.

How many sessions am I likely to need?

Most acute injuries take between 5-10 treatments until they are fully resolved.
At Links Health & Performance, we pride ourselves on minimising treatment where possible. Our Osteopath’s actively encourage patients to take an active role in their treatment and rehab, to enable a smooth transition to full self-management.

What should I expect during my first session?

During your first session, your osteopath will assess your condition, perform a full case history, review your medical history, and inquire as to any potentially related work or environmental stressors. This is all to fully understand the issue, and it’s probable root cause.

Is getting treated by an Osteopath painful?

Ideally not, but occasionally it can be. Our goal is to always minimise pain, both during and after treatment.
If you have a treatment style or pressure preference, please let your osteopath know in advance.

Does Osteopathy treat sports injuries?

Our osteopath’s have a focus and long history of treating sports people and injuries. Our osteopath Kristopher Sanford is a qualified strength & conditioning coach, and has previously worked with elite sporting teams and individuals.

What are your opening hours, and how do I book an appointment?

We are opening from Monday-Saturday, and our osteopath’s availability can be found via our online booking portal.
